A major function of the MTA is to promote increased trading opportunities for our members and assist them to become more profitable.
The Association has a dedicated business development department offering a range of services to members. Members of the Association can click here for detailed information on member benefits and how to access them. Our key activities as an Association are:
Representing engineering based manufacturing and supporting the advanced engineering sector through lobbying, media contact and networking;
Providing relevant and specific industry intelligence;
Encouraging talent through funding and support for workplace training and education initiatives in schools, colleges and universities;
Delivering the UK's only major exhibition focused on manufacturing technologies – MACH (owned and organised by the MTA).
Membership of the MTA is open to companies involved with the manufacturing technologies sector and end users of such technology.

Our statistical services offer industry specific data and analysis to help you plan ahead and our technical department offers advice on the latest legislation and regulation to make sure you stay a step ahead. The MTA regularly run inward and outward missions in association with the UKTI to encourage international trade – assisting members to set up new trade links with overseas companies across the globe. With support from UKTI the MTA is sometimes able to offer those participating in missions with funding towards their trip.
In addition to missions the MTA assists members to attend overseas exhibitions, a full list of dates of international exhibitions supported or attended by the MTA can be found in the events section of the website and information on such events is regularly provided in the Friday Brief.

MTA Overseas Offices
Currently the MTA has offices in China and Russia. Both were set up to assist members looking to trade in these countries. The offices provide support with all areas of international trading in their respective countries and their local knowledge makes them experts at introducing new UK companies to the market.
The MTA has negotiated a discount for its members on the rates for UK, European and Worldwide Kompass data. Kompass is an online B2B database providing high quality, locally sourced information on companies in 66 countries worldwide. Kompass can help enhance all areas of your business - as a Marketing, Sales, Research and Procurement tool.
Business Magnet - promote your company
The MTA has joined a number of other leading associations taking part in the Businessmagnet Industry Associations Program. The business-to-business directory introduced this new initiative for members of the MTA and other associations to highlight the status within their sector. The online directory has over 120,000 businesses featured on the site covering over 45,000 products and services. Each month Businessmagnet achieves over 3.5million page views and attracts over 1million unique users. The MTA logo will automatically be displayed for those members who are already featured on the Businessmagnet directory.
